The National Academy of Public Administration is an independent, nonprofit organization chartered by Congress to improve governance at all levels – local, regional, state, national, and international. The Academy's membership consists of over 600 Fellows with distinguished careers in public management as practitioners, scholars, and civic leaders. Academy studies are performed at the request of Congress, government agencies, or foundations and are influential in setting public policy.
The Academy is seeking individual(s) with public administration/public policy background to function as an integral part of the Academy studies and/or programs research team(s). Required skills include research, data analysis, and writing. Some conference preparation experience and strong interpersonal skills are also important factors. Duties include research and administrative support for major research projects and a standing committee.
The Academy prefers individuals who are enrolled in, or have completed, public administration, environmental, public policy, or political science programs. Masters degree preferred. Among the responsibilities of the research associate will be:
Conducting government document and literature reviews on current projects
Setting up and participating in group conferences and study‑related interviews
Writing, reviewing and editing various documents
Providing support to the overall day‑to‑day operation of the Academy
Candidates should be experienced in using Microsoft Office Suite and Internet research techniques. The ability to do research and prepare written summaries of findings and conclusions is desired.
