Awards and Scholarships
The Academy recognizes outstanding contributions to the practice, literature and study of public administration through several awards and scholarship programs. These include:
The National Public Service Award
The Academy and the American Society for Public Administration jointly present the National Public Service Awards to outstanding practitioners in public administration. The Awards, established in 1983, are designed to recognize individuals who have made a difference in the field for a sustained period of time.

The Rosslyn S. Kleeman Keeper of the Flame Award
The Academy and the American Society for Public Administration jointly present the Rosslyn S. Kleeman Keeper of the Flame Award to outstanding practitioners in public service. The award is given to an individual who continues to provide public service following official retirement from his or her primary profession.
The Louis Brownlow Book Award
The Academy invites nominations for the 2008 Louis Brownlow Book Award, the highest annual award issued for excellence in public administration literature. The Award recognizes the year’s most outstanding example of a literary work that provides new insights, fresh analysis, and original ideas on a significant development, a government agency’s performance, or another public administration or public policy topic. Nominations are due by May 31, 2008.

The Herbert Roback Scholarship
This scholarship is given annually to a college student who demonstrates outstanding potential for a public sector career.
