Harold B. Finger
(1970) – Harold B. Finger is now a consultant in space policy and technology, energy, housing, and government management. In the 1960’s, he simultaneously served as the Manager of the joint AEC-NASA Space Nuclear Propulsion Office, NASA ‘s Director of Space Power and Nuclear Systems, and the AEC’s Director of the Space Nuclear Systems Division and then, in 1967, he was appointed as NASA’s Associate Administrator for Organization and Management heading all of NASA‘s administrative functions and the educational programs and its aerospace technology applications acivities. From 1969 thru 1972, he served as the first Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology in HUD generating major programs on housing and community development, housing technology, urban planning, innovative housing assistance and then, joined General Electric Company where he was General Manager of GE’s Center for Energy System, Manager of the Electric Utility Engineering Operation, and then Staff Executive of the Power Systems Strategic Planning and Development Operation. In 1983 he became President and CEO of the U.S. Council for Energy Awareness involved with providing public information on energy needs and systems, including the importance of terrestrial nuclear energy generated electricity supply. He served there till May, 1991. He has received numerous awards and recognition in these various areas of his work and is a member of the major professional organizations in these areas.
