RICHARD KEEVEY TO DIRECT
ACADEMY'S PERFORMANCE CONSORTIUM

Washington, DC - January 20, 2004 -Richard Keevey, former government and industry executive, has been chosen to direct the National Academy of Public Administration's Performance Consortium. Keevey comes to the Academy, a non-profit corporation chartered by Congress to advise leaders on governance and management issues, from his post as Director of Core Administration Programs at The Unisys Corporation.

"Rich's success in tackling complex budget and financial management issues throughout his career makes him the ideal leader to advance the Academy's Performance Consortium," said Academy President C. Morgan Kinghorn. Keevey's government experience includes serving as the Chief Financial Officer for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Deputy Under Secretary for Financial Management and Director for Finance and Accounting at the U.S. Department of Defense, and the Director of the State of New Jersey's Office of Management and Budget. Rich is also a Visiting Professor at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. The Academy's Performance Consortium builds and supports a community of performance management leaders by convening events, providing advice and conducting research.

Academy Fellow Celebrates Fifty Years of Public Causes

Academy Fellow Brian O’Connell shares the priceless lessons he has learned during a lifetime of third sector experience in Fifty Years in Public Causes: Stories from a Road Less Traveled. O’Connell’s memoir traces his remarkable life in public service, from his early forays in the non-profit sector to his ascendancy as national director of the Mental Health Association, and then as founder of the Independent Sector.

Told through fascinating personal stories, O’Connell’s memoir includes a strong mandate to his successors in public service. He offers his readers the lessons he would emphasize for those who take the journey on that road less traveled.
