The Honorable Frank J. Principi is serving in his third term on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. He is leading the efforts to build public and private sector infrastructure – roads, schools, water/sewer, natural gas, electric, and telecommunications – in a rapidly growing jurisdiction. His “Vision of New Woodbridge” includes revitalization of the Route 1 corridor through mixed-use, transit-oriented, and smart growth development; widened roads and new commuter transit choices; and stronger neighborhoods.
Mr. Principi serves on several regional and state bodies, including the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (Chairman 2012), National Capital Region Emergency Preparedness Council (Chairman 2013, 2015), Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (Chairman 2016-2017), Northern Virginia Regional Commission, Virginia Association of Counties and Potomac Hospital. He chaired Prince William’s Future Commission 2030. Mr. Principi’s service extends to Capitol Hill where he served on the US House of Representatives’ Energy and Commerce Committee and its Subcommittees on Transportation, Telecommunications, and Finance. His state government experience includes work with the National Governors Association, including the Governor’s response to 9/11.
Mr. Principi is also a seasoned management consultant and trusted advisor to c-suite clients in public, private, and non-profit corporations around the world. He assists clients with organizational assessments, strategic planning, vulnerability analysis, compliance audits, and risk management. Mr. Principi is an established crisis management expert with extended engagements on such disasters as Pan Am Flight 103, Union Carbide at Bhopal, Exxon Valdez, and the Boxer Day Earthquake & Tsunami.
Mr. Principi is a graduate of Leadership Greater Washington; Public Health Fellow with George Washington University; Masters Candidate at the University of Maryland; and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in American History and Political Science at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is the recipient of three Business of the Year awards from the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, Arlington Diocese, and Prince William Living Magazine. He resides in Northern Virginia with his wife of nearly 30 years. His twin daughters attend Virginia Tech University.
