Friday, July 13, 2018 at 12:30pm - 2:30pm
Inspired by the Social Equity Leadership Conference last week in New York, I am honored to have been named the next Chair of the Standing Panel on Social Equity. During the conference, we heard about some of the innovations addressing equity issues from around the country. Impressing presentations from Bruce Katz, Marc Morial, our own Terry Gerton and others can help drive important conversations about the integration of social equity issues into public policy. And of course, this would not have happened without the leadership of Blue Wooldridge, the outgoing Chair.
On July 13, we will be holding an organizational meeting to begin to chart out the path for the Social Equity Panel over the next year. The meeting will be held at the NAPA offices from 12:30 - 2:30 pm. We will begin with a guest presentation to help set the stage and then a working meeting to develop the new agenda. This meeting immediately precedes the meeting of the Africa Working Group as they provide an opportunity for Fellows to meet IREX's Mandela Fellows, young African leaders between the ages of 25 and 35 who are accomplished innovators and leaders in their African countries and communities. I encourage you to attend both events.
Social Equity is likely one of the most important issues facing public leaders today and will be even more so in the future. Please join us to help structure how best to bring innovation and insight so that we can collectively address critical policy questions and solutions.
