Through no action of my own, I was fortunate enough to be born a citizen of the United States. This has provided me opportunities to make the most of my life that are unavailable to the vast majority of the world’s population. These opportunities are in many cases a direct result of the government institutions from which we all benefit. Those institutions are of course no more than the individuals who choose to serve within those institutions. Serving on behalf of the American public, whether in the military, federal service, or consulting to federal agencies, has offered me a sense of contribution in exchange for the many benefits I have received as a result of being a U.S. citizen. Being a member of NAPA has allowed me to continue to learn and grow in my ability to contribute, as well as providing a forum to hopefully contribute to the growth of others in public service.
- Doug Webster, Former Chief Financial Officer, U.S. Department of Education

I serve because I believe that the work I am doing with my colleagues is noble! We are protecting the public, saving lives, preventing victimization, giving offenders a second chance at life and their children new and better beginnings. It is a privilege to have this opportunity to be of service.

- Harold Clarke, Director, Virginia Department of Corrections

Serving as a city manager I get great satisfaction from seeing the results of the work of our municipal employees. They provide our residents with critical services such as police and fire protection, clean water, safe roads, parks and recreational opportunities just to mention a few. All of these enhance their everyday lives of the people who live work and play in our city. We make a difference.

- Norton N. Bonaparte Jr., City Manager, City of Sanford

I serve because I believe the future is only better for our children if we work together to make it so. I have the opportunity to live in the greatest country on earth and want to give something back. Being part of something larger that is advancing good government makes my heart smile. My faith calls all of us to love each other and work to make the world a better place
